Rej.ort No. 2.
The Freejiort .\thlelic Club challeng¬ ed the Freenort Field Club for a game to be Jilayed at F'reejiort Athletic Park on Lalior Day aftenuion to decide the chamjiionshiji of Freejiort. Although it raiiunl in the morning,by two o'clock the sun came out an d by two thirty the field was in fine condition for a game. Mr. Wallace, manager of the .•\lhlelic Club, did not call the game off so the Field (jlub and a large crowd of rooters from both teams were on hand for the contest. The Field Club were on the diamond jiracticing at 'i -.'.iO and were surjirised when at 4 o'clock, the time scheduled for the game to begin, Mr. Wallace and his team had faileil to Jiut in an ajijiearance.
Several niemhers of the Field ('lub had shortened their vacations in order to arrive in Freejiort in time for the game and were disgusted with the ac¬ tion of the .-\thletic Club. They had heard of a visiting teams not showing UJI but seldoni had they heard of a home team crawling out of a game by stay¬ ing away from their own grounds.
Freejiort Alhleli(- Cluh bas made (juite a recoiil this year, defeating sev¬ eral minor lily teams that were no at¬ traction foi- a tirst class team and Mr. Wallace was evidently afraid to spoil that record and sent his men heme rather than take ti chance of being de¬ feated on his own grounds, as there could have heen no other rea.son for his failure lo ajijiear at Athletic Park on Moiuiay afternoon i»s scheduled;
