item teems to be fairly accarate, and a good account of tbe event. ^
The parade in the afternoon was ahead of any circus parade that has ever before appeared in Freeport, and the crowd that turned out to witness it reminded one of a firemen's tooma¬ ment, the streets being lined witb spectators. The item referred to fol¬ lows: , While Frank Tinn«:y, a hardworking cowboy, was asleep on tbe ground with hia saddle for a pillow at Freeport, a burly desperado closely resembling Fred Stone, stole hia horse. Tin¬ ney awoke and blazed away, bnt the bandit shot him full of holes witb blajjk partridges and made off. Just then°a band of gallant cowboya from tbe Chin Chin Ranch, headed by Will Kodgers and Leo Carrilio, dashed up, and afttr firing about 900 (blank) shots, roped the miscreant and dragged him away, face downward, amid bia cri^s: "Aw, go flow, these stones will break my face."
Then the whole summer colony of Freeport cheered wi|dly, for it was the best amateuf STrcus. and aociety Wild West show ever given on the grounds of the' South Shore Yacht Club. There were about 2600 persons present, and about'150 actors and ac¬ tresses who took part, in fact many of tbe acts had to be cut out-as tbe pro¬ gram was so long. But the principal feature waa Arthur Deagon, who, as grand tharahal, announcer and ring¬ master, kept the audience delighted by bis witty remarks.
First came the grand march of cow boys from the Chin Chin Ranch, Indi ana, male and female, acrobats, Scotch Kilties and bagpipers, bicycle riders and about twenty clowns, Including new Charley Chaplin. After several selections by the Kilties bagpipers a atage was put up and Van Cooper danced the Highland Fling in a grace ful manner. Sergeant William "Cam¬ eron of the Kilties th^n gave a Scottih reel ip excellent style.
Fred Stone, Leo Carillo, Will Rodg- ers, Frank Tinney, little Dorothy Stone and other ladies gave-a spirited cow¬ boy's quadrille on horseback.
"The 'Vorld'a Greatest Diablo flay¬ er," William Cromwell, received much a'pplause for his juggling of the spool.
