Village Trustees
All the metnbers of the Village Board of Trustees were present at the meeting Friday evening.
A. R. Rhodes appeared before the Board, and said he had heard the Board of Trustees were considering selling the old engine for junk and using the money for helping pave Main Street. He wanted to object and advised tlie Board to have a test betw-ecn the old ^ engine and the new one. He failed to { say how far a hundred dollars worth of j old junk would go toward a $.50,000 j street paving contract, but the Board ' assured him that the matter had not | been discussed at all. The engine is in good condition and can b^ sold for a good sum, but the matter must be re¬ ferred to the taxpayers before any¬ thing is done. With good care this en¬ gine will giv<j satisfactory service for two or three years, jjossibly longer.
Ex-Alderman S. Foster Sjirague was a special visitor and congratulated the members for the good work they were doing for thc village; he knew from ex¬ perience what a hard thankless job they had and wished to exjiress his ap¬ preciation of tho results of their work.

This commences from Dec. 1, at which time the village clerk is ] to get an assistant in his ofTice and at- j tend to the reading of meters from the i village oflice.

The boat was for¬ merly used by the Ferry Company but became old and the machinery was re¬ moved after which the hulk wus sold to a jirivale jiarty to be fitted over as a houseboat. A. R. Rhodes sjioke on this matter and explained that there ' was a nusunderstaniiing about the lioat; that the owner was intending to sue the proprietor of the boat yard for not taking the boat out of the water when it should have been done; and that thereafter and before it could be pre¬ vented the boat sank, and now lies in -such a position as to make it almost impossible to pass, jiarticularly at low tide.
