Town Board
.\ number of ajijilications for marsh ¦ lands were received by the Town Board .Monday afternoon, .-\mong thern was i that of Chester A. Smith, who a.sked for four acres of marsh land for the jiurjiose of jilanting oysters. This was granted. Other recjuests on the same i order came from John J. Deubert, who ' wishes to lease land on the south bank ! of Great Island, at Hungry Harbor ;| Chester A. Smith, at Elder Island; j Ferdinand C. Parsons, at Long Creek, j and D.Wesley Pine, Daniel B. Raynor, William Smith and Jacob T. Post, on, what is known as "The Run." The applications were all referred to the Committee on Leases. ;
The matter of heating the Town Hall was brought up by Town Clerk Luther H. Weeks. P\ir some time the lack of proper heating facilities has been felt at the hall. .Mr. Weeks drew attention to this, and also the fact that frequently gas had to supjile- ment the regular apparatus. Sujier¬ visor Cox suggested that Mr. Weeks be authorized to inspect various kinds of heating apparatus with a view to.se- ecting one for the Town Hall. The need of a new plant will be felt with the coming winter in that the secord floor of the Town Hall has been con¬ verted i.itci oflice rcxims, to be used by the Highway Commissioners and other town officials.
Supervisc-ir Cox al.so brought up a matter which is troubling the Floral Park water district. Taxpayers of that village are complaining they are forced to pay water taxes when there I are no mains in the streets on which they own pt-operty. Investigation of ! the contract between the village and the company supplying it with water, show that while such conditions exist there ia apparently no means of redress or remedy.

The applications were all referred to the Committee on Leases. ; The matter of heating the Town Hall was brought up by Town Clerk Luther H.
