It is the intention of the Battalion lo co-opi'.rale with the Farm Bureaus, with individual farmers, anil with any organization existing in the four counties on Long Island by securing additional lan<l for cultivation, by furnishing agricultural machinery and iinplcmentw that will increase the efli- ciency and ouli»ut of existing labor, lo furnish fertilizer and seed, to se- rure additional labor, and lo formu¬ late plans for utilizing volunteer labor otfered by Boy Scouts, High .Schools and other organizations from the city and the communities of I>oiig Island. In aildition to this it is proposed to arrange a system of storage ware¬ houses to care for the surjilus produc¬ tion, and to arrange a systematic dis¬ tribution and marketing of the crop after it has been harvested.

.\t the beginning of his remarks Mr. Hugo got in the good graces of his audience by remarking that when he (inished the census work last year and remarked that Freeport wa.s the'tion: lith largest \illage in the .State and the most progressive village on Long Island, he simply said it because it was the truth.
