On Monday about 100 members of Co. I, loth Regiment, were sent out to guard tbe Brooklyn water works line through tbia section. No special proviaions were irade to keep them comfortable, and with the extra cold weather the work was very unpleaaant.
Members of the Elks, upon learning that the soldiera were in tbia section to guard the aqueduct, tried to get into connection witb Captain Dooley. Failing in thia, they sent a telegram to tbe Governor instead, offering the use of the club houae to all the sol¬ diers.

In an effort to "hook" a ride on a passing automo¬ bile truck, his overcoat becanie en¬ tangled in a skid chain on one of the rear wheels.
