Home Defense Still Drilling
The -.'rirni weather of the past few- days 1 .IS not interfered with the reg¬ ular drills of the Freeport Unit of the Home f^efense Corps, regular drills being held .Monday and Friday even¬ ings. .A si)eeia'4- <irill was held Sat¬ urday afternoon by companies .A and B.
As soon as Major Holland returns attention will be paid to members who have not presented themselves regularly for drill. Some of the members do not yet appreciate that they are in a military organization and cannot absent themselves from regularly called drills without per- -filission from the "top sergeant" of their company.
The inembers are showing much in¬ terest in their work, there being an active rivalry between the three com¬ panies. ln> the next few weeks ex¬ tended order work, which was prom¬ ised some time before and which was sidetracked by more important mat¬ ters, will be taken up in real earnest.
Hurt in Auto Acciclent
Village Clerk Sylvester P. Shea was badly bruised in an auto accident while returning home with A. B. Wallace, in the Iatter's car, Saturday evening. Mr. Wallace turned out fop another auto and was unable to kt&p in time to miss striking a wagon standing on the wrong side of the street without any light. His car was badly dam¬ aged and Mr. Shea severely bruised so that he was kept at home for sev¬ eral days.
