Seaman jiresent¬ ed a petition on behalf of the South Side Traction Comjiany for a renewal of the petition for a franchise present¬ ed by that comjiany two years ago. Mr. Seaman stated that at the lime the former jietition was jiresented it was supjxised that the c-ompany had ' been satisfactorilly financed by Balti¬ more capitalists, but owing to the dis¬ astrous tire in that city the project had fallen through, but sinec then the comjiany hacl been reconstructed and was now in a jiosititin to begin work on the road shortly after the franchise was granted. He stated that the road would run from Bellport lo Belmont Park, and that a franchise had been granted for the entire route excepting in F'reejiort and Babylon, but that the route through Babylon was so short that il would not necessitate any de¬ lay. The petitiiiii as jiresented Friday night covered I'lactically the same route us was (ovei-ed by the jirevi¬ ous jietilioii. After considering the Jiroject the Board stated that a jiublic meeting Would be beld at Ojiera Hall on Wednesday evening, January l(ith, at S o'cliir-k, when the residents of I'reejiorl would have an iipimrtunitv ofl exjiressin.g their'.'ii-vv-^ upon the mat-I ter.
