William Dwyer of Brooklyn, Henry Corson of Mount Vernon and Archie Hulse of Sayville were saved from grave i)eril Sunday afternoon by the Point Lookout Life Saving (Jrew.
The trio were thrown into the chop- : l)y waters of Jones' inlet by the grounding and overturning of the 21 foot launch, Albion, which they were taking trom Greenpoint to Sayville.
The shipwreck was due to the launch's shipping some heavy seas op¬ posite Point Lookout Beach, as it ap¬ proached the inlet. This affected the jump spark so that the craft had to drift about for a time, the crew en¬ deavoring to bail out the water. The s[)arking apparatus was finally dried .so that the vessel could resume its journey.
While the launch lay motionless off the beach, the life saving crew had discovered something was wrong with the craft and inmiediately decided to I launch the lifeboat. Before this was accomplished the launch had pfbceeded eastward, with the life saving crew in {)ursuit.
When the launch went over in the inlet, Corson, who is over »> feet tall, was able to touch bottom with his feet, and his companions followed suit, but they .soon became exhausted and chill¬ ed. It was some time before the life saving crew reached the trio.
The men were taken to the station for dry clothing, food and shelter, and the launch, which is owned by a Green point party, was taken in tow.
Mrs. Streesman and daughter Ethel of Central Park have been visiting re lati ve.^ here.

A third district alarm of tire hustled the firemen out at half past one Thurs¬ day morning. The re-organized Free- port Band held a euchre and dance in Fraternity Hall, and one of the last people out must have left a lighted match from an anticipated shioke, starting the blaze. John Powers, pass¬ ing the hall a few minutes later, saw the flames aild investigated, finding a lively blaze in progress. Night watch¬ man Elmer Raynor came to Powers' jissisttince and extinguished the blaze before it got under headway. The fire¬ men did not leave their houses, receiv¬ ing word the fire was out.
