Bethpage Community Park Remediation and Skating Rink Construction in Full Swing
Most Bethpage residents would not be able to tell you where this photo was.taken and that is because it is the site where our former ice skating
rink was located in the Bethpage Community Park. Much work has been done by the Town of Oyster Bay to not only remediate the park but also to
construct a new state-of-the-art ice skating facility. The portion of the park that the Town of Oyster Bay has taken over has been completely remediated
and as we go to print, structural work as well as electrical and piping work is being completed to get the site ready to pour a foundation.
The facility is expected to open in 2008 and will be a wonderful addition to our community. "Construction on the new indoor ice skating facility
is proceeding smoothly", stated TOB Supervisor John Venditto. "Many of the amenities incorporated into the facility, such as community rooms
that will be available to local organizations, separate male and female locker rooms, indoor and outdoor eating areas, and a fireplace similar to
the one in the former ice rink, were suggested by residents. The fact that the rink will be operational 12 months a year, including evenings, will give
people more time to enjoy this state-of-the-art facility. I believe the rink will be a source of pride for the entire community. "
