Heading Back to School Bethpage Welcomes
New Teachers

The new instructional staff prepares to take a bus tour of the Bethpage community

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Richard S. Marsh (center), Assistant Superintendent

The Bethpage Board of Education welcomed new instructional staff members during
an orientation on Thursday, August 30 at Bethpage High School.
The new staff began the day with breakfast and an introduction to central administration
personnel including Superintendent of Schools Dr. Richard S. Marsh, Assistant
Superintendent lor Instruction and Technology Terrence Clark, and curriculum directors.
Board of Education President Michael Kelly and Vice President Tom Frost also
stopped by to greet the new staff. Assistant Superintendent lor Human Resources
Caroline Lavelle coordinated the orientation.
Following the introduction and a brief overview of the District, the new stall'look a
bus tour of the community, stopping off at (!able\ ision and Northrop c irumman, two
major corporations that have supported the District through the years In providing valuable
student programs and internships.
Cablevision representatives announced a new program the) will he introducing to
Bethpage students in conjunction with the New York Rangers hocke) team that promotes
mathematics studies. This is a follow-up to the very successful "Read to
Achieve" program that Cablevision has sponsored the last two years in the Bethpage
School District in conjunction with the New York Knicks basketball team. Northrop
Grumman officials stressed the importance ol cultivating local talent ami providing
opportunities for graduates to stay and work in Bethpage once the) have completed col
lege. The) spoke about some of the opportunities available ai Northrop. (iruninian.
including positions that do not require a technical background.
