Legislator Mangano Approves
Emergency Notification System
On July 18, 2007, Legislator Edward P. Mangano and the other
members of the Nassau County Legislature's Rules Committee
approved a contract for the County to purchase an Emergency
Notification System. The system will allow the Nassau County
Office of Emergency Management to access an electronic map of
the county. Highlighting any portion of the map will result in the
system dialing every phone number in the geographic area and
will give the county an opportunity to deliver a prerecorded emergency
management message to all residents, such as evacuation
instructions.
Legislator Mangano stated, "This is another step towards being
prepared to effectively react to a devastating storm or manmade
disaster and disseminate important information to our residents as
quickly as possible.
