Bigger and better than ever! That truly is the phrase to discribe this year's St.
Patrick's Day Parade, which was held on Sunday, March 4. The five star event
started with a church service at St. Martin of Tours Church and then featured a
jam packed parade which included the Butehorn Brothers VFW Color Guard
and members, Vietnam Veterans and their Color Guard, Irish Wolfhounds,
Nassau County Mounted Police, Bethpage High School Marching Band. U.S.
Submarine Veterans, Hartigan Council Knights of Columbus, Catholic War
Veterans, NY Guard, American Celtic Pipe Band, Fraternal Order of Police,
American Legion Members, AOH Dibidion 11 Marchers, Bethpage Water
District, FDNY Emerald Society Pipes & Drums, Bethpage Fire Department.
Bethpage Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, Bethpage Junior Firefighters, Nassau
County Firefighters Pipes and Drums, Nassau County Firelighters emerald
Society, James Foote as Teddy Roosevelt, Company II 1 19th New York
Volunteers, Bethpage Historical Society, Century 21 Metro Realty, Tara Pipes &
Drums, Division 15 AOII Members, LaSalle Regional School, Inishfree Irish
Dancers, Bethpage State Park, Mid Island Irish American Society & Band, 1.1.
Yellow Cab, Girls Scout and Brownie Troops and the K-9 Brigade. Aslo marching
were various town and county elected officials as well as past grand marshals.
Hundreds of green clad spectators lined the streets and proudly waved
their Irish Hags, which were complments of Century 21 Metro Realty.
And what would a St. Patty's Parade be without a fabulous grand marshal?
Well this year Bethpage was blessed with not one but two supurb gents who certainly
contribute a great deal to the community of Bethpage. Congrats to John
Coumatos and Kevin McCabe who were the 2007 Bethpage St. PAtrick's Day
Parade Grand Marshals!!!
After the lenghty and impressive parade a reception was held at St. Martin of
Tours School and included Irish stepdancers, the American Celtic Pipe Band and
music by Gabe Flickey and Patrick Donoghue.
Congratulations to the entire St. Patty's Day Parade committe for the tine job
that they do in organizing this event evey year. It's obvious that green is a great
color for Bethpage!!!
