"Brrrr-EATHTAKING!"
Chamber of Commerce Hosts Annual Holiday Lighting Celebration
Oh boy was it cold! Frigid
temps were on hand on December 7
as the Bethpage Chamber of
Commerce held their traditional
Holiday Lighting Celebration in the
center of town. And yes, even in
spite of some pretty wicked winds
and freezing temperatures,
Bethpage residents came out by the
hundreds to line the streets of
Broadway and take part in an qV
fashioned hometown celebration.
This year however, the Chamber
had many obstacles to overcome,
the most obvious being the increasing
price of decorating the town.
Each year, believe it or not, it costs
over $16,000 to light up the
Bethpage evening skies for the holidays
and while the Chamber is
well aware of how important it is
this year funds were low. So with a
bit of creative thinking and a ton of
help from the Bethpage Junior
Firefighters, led by Frank Ceglio
(who is nothing short of AMAZING)
we DID IT!! The Junior firefighters
spent hours putting up all
of the lights on our gorgeous 30
foot Christmas tree, they placed
each and every bow, erected our
impressive Menorah, put together
our gorgeous manger scene and put
up all the fencing around our
Christmas tree. On top of all that
Jean Ceglio was kind enough to
help with the purchasing of over
6000 lights that are brilliantly shining
on our tree. The Juniors also
constructed their fantastic Santa's
workshop float and even added an
amazing sleigh this year! The
Chamber is so thankful to Frank
and a wonderful group of hardworking
elves better known as the
Bethpage Junior Firefighters.
The Chamber also extends their
sincere thanks to Frank Camerlengo
of Emil's Landscaping and
Century 21 Metro American Honics
for each year donating our
Christmas tree. Emil's Landscaping
and their group of little elves
donates all of their time in putting
up the garland and roping that is
lining the awnings and streetlights
