WOW!! RAIN DOESN'T DAMPEN
SUMMER FESTIVAL 2008
It seems as though the last few years
the Bethpage Chamber of Commerce
Summer Festival has been plagued with
a rainy opening Friday and this year certainly
was no exception. In fact, due to
rain and lightening, the Festival was
actually shut down at approximately
9:30pm. The Chamber was disappointed
to say the least but to their amazement
Bethpage once again came through for
the Chamber and made Saturday one of
the best the Chamber has ever had.
The Chamber must thank the One
Night Stand Band for braving the yucky
weather on Friday as well as all the J
other dedicated vendors and student
bands (No Self Control and Mr. K) who
tried to endure in spite of the rain drops!
Saturday, however brought with it
much better weather and with that wonderful
weather came thousands of festival-
goers who literally turned the parking
lot into an ocean of people. The
Chamber's official DJ Vic Macaluso
made sure that the music was pumping
all night long and his entertainment set
the stage for a night that was truly memorable.
This year the Chamber honored
Supervisor John Venditto and
Assemblyman Robert Walker who have
done so much for the Chamber of
Commerce as well as the community of
Bethpage. Each received a special
"Community Service Award." The
Chamber also presented Membership
Chairman John Eastwood with a
Chamber Member of the Year award for
his tireless efforts in making sure the
Chamber of Commerce continues to
grow through membership. Also receiving
special awards from the Chamber
