PURPLE!
BETHPAGE'S
RELAY FOR LIFE
THIS WEEKEND!
On May 31, 2008 Bethpage will prove
once and for all that one of our favorite colors
is PURPLE. Relay for Life, an event
sponsored by the American Cancer Society
is coming to Bethpage and we are certain
that this year will be even more successful
than ever. Last year our community broke
all records for a first year, with over
$130,000 collected and this year we plan on
shattering that record as well! This wonderful
overnight event raises money for those
fighting, surviving and dealing with cancer
in every way. It is a way to remember those
who lost their battle, pay tribute to our survivors
and honor those fighting right now.
The event begins at 7pm at Bethpage High
School and it is one of the most meaningful
and special events you could ever be a part
of. Each team who participates or each
community member who has donated in
some way should take great pride in knowing
that they are making a difference in the
lives of so many. It's more than just an
overnight walk around the track at
Bethpage High School. It's showing that
when an entire community unites we can
change the world one smile at a time!
If you are not joining in the walk on
Saturday, it is still not too late to contribute
to this wonderful cause. So many community
groups, school groups, organizations and
residents have in one way or another
reached into their hearts and donated in
some way. And what a wonderful feeling to
be a part of something this special!
Thanks goes out to all the Relay volunteers
who made this event possible and
have worked so hard. Special thanks to
Judy and Kevin Wichter for having the
vision and stamina to bring Relay to our
community. And of course thanks to the
entire community for proving once again
that a little town can make a big difference.
On May 31, 2008 we join our neighbors,
friends and family for a walk under the
stars, but in being a part of this event we all
are really reaching for the stars and brightening
the lives of so many.

The weather for this year's Memorial Day Parade could not have been better, as Stewart Avenue filled with
flag waving spectators saluting all our Veterans as they paraded by. This year's wonderful parade was a true tribute
to the gratitude and respect that the community of Bethpage has for our Veterans as well as for the Bethpage
Memorial Day Parade Committee who work tirelessly to insure the parade's success. This year's event culminated
at Bethpage Fire Department's Station 4 where a fitting ceremony took place honoring all those brave men
and women who gave the supreme sacrifice for their country as well as those serving today. Hundreds of folks
took part in this fabulous parade and we are happy to report that they also attended the memorial service which
the true meaning of the day. Special thanks to the VFW Butehorn Brothers, American Legion Post 86, Ladies
Auxiliary, Bethpage Fire Department and so many others who made this ceremony a true tribute to our Vetera;.
Bethpage proved that they will never forget and will forever be thankful. See more pictures in centerfold
