2008 Bethpage Federal Credit Union New York
Air Show at Jones Beach Features U.S. Navy
Blue Angels and U.S. Air Force's New F-22A
King Kullen Makes Scoutwalk 2008 a Huge Success
Bethpage Federal Credit Union is pleased to announce that Jones Beach
State Park will once again be hosting the 2008 Bethpage Federal Credit Union
New York Air Show, this year featuring the U.S. Navy Blue Angels. Also performing
will be the U.S. Air Force's newest fighter aircraft, the F-22A Raptor,
as well as a host of other aerial demonstrators.
This year's show has a local connection in that Kevin Mannix, Flight
Leader/Commanding Officer for the Blue Angels, is a native of Lindenhurst,
NY. Mannix is a 1981 graduate of Lindenhurst High School and a 1986 graduate
of the State University of New York Maritime College.
The air show will be held at Jones Beach State Park on Saturday, May 24,
10:00 AM-3:00 PM and Sunday, May 25, 10:00 AM-3:00 PM. Admission is
free, but there is a parking fee. Last year's air show was a success with the
two-day event hosting 398,000 park visitors at Jones Beach State Park during
the Memorial Day weekend.
"It is an honor to welcome back the U.S. Navy Blue Angels who started
things off for us in 2004 at the first-ever Bethpage Federal Credit Union New
York Air Show at Jones Beach," stated Bethpage President and CEO, Kirk
Kordeleski. "Our collaboration with state parks has been a wonderful experience
and through the partnership, all Long Islanders can share the excitement
of aerial demonstrations along our shores that evoke our region's proud aviation
history."
Additional performers at this year's show include the US Army Golden
Knights, the NY Air National Guard-HC-130/HH60 Rescue Demo, Air Force
Reserve Biplane with Ed Hamill, and John Klatt-Air National Guard Aerobatic
Team. Civilian demonstrators include the American Airpower Museum
Warbirds, GEICO Skytypers, and Sean Tucker, named a "Living Legend of
Flight" in 2003 by the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum.
"Watching the Blue Angels soar over the skies of Jones Beach is one of the
many thrilling things families can do when they visit our state parks. We are
grateful to our partner at Bethpage Federal Credit Union for once again
supporting this fantastic family event," said New York State Office of Parks,
Recreation and Historic Preservation Commissioner Carol Ash.
The Bethpage Federal Credit Union New York Air Show at Jones Beach
also offers the perfect opportunity to entertain clients, employees, family and
friends at a world-class event within a private cordoned area. Purchase a
chalet and receive VIP status for your guests with a shady tent for food and
drink and an exclusive private viewing area with tables and umbrellas. For
more information, call 631 669-0449.
Making it a Success. King Kullen Grocery Co., Inc. recently helped
sponsor a very successful Seoutwalk '08, held on a beautiful spring Saturday
in Manhasset s Christopher Morely Park. Representing King Kullen at the
annual Scouting event was King Kullen Manhasset Store Manager Gene
Green (center), who was joined by (from I. to r.) Theodore Roosevelt Council
President Scott Christensen; Council Executive Ed McLaughlin; and Council
Commissioner Andy Johns, as well as Cub Scouts from Pack 590 and Boy
Scouts from Troop 7.
A longtime supporter of Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts in Nassau and
Suffolk Counties, King Kullen Grocery Co., Inc., recently sponsored and
participated in Scoutwalk '08 at Christopher Morley Park in Manhasset,
New York. Beautiful spring weather helped attract thousands of participants,
who enjoyed food, entertainment, games, prizes and the opportunity to meet
sports celebrities.
"Thanks to corporate sponsors like King Kullen, Scoutwalk grows in
popularity every year and enables us to raise funds for terrific programs that
benefit Boy Scout troops throughout Nassau County," explained Edward
McLaughlin, Scout Executive of the Theodore Roosevelt Council, Boy
Scouts of America. "The $30,000 generated from this event will support
projects at our Schiff Scout Reservation in Wading River. We are very grateful
to King Kullen for their continuing role in making Scoutwalk such a success."
"As a Long Island company, it is our pleasure to sponsor groups like the
local Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts that make a positive difference in the lives
of countless young people," remarked King Kullen Co-President J. Donald
Kennedy. "We're happy to be a good corporate neighbor and wish the
Theodore Roosevelt Council continued success."
