Schools Kick Off
Prestigious Internship Program
Twelve students from Bethpage
High School with varying interests
have been selected to participate in
a new internship program being
conducted at Northrop Grumman
Corporation's (NGC) Bethpage
facility. For the next several months,
students will work with NGC
professionals. Some students will
work in the Engineering
Department, some will work in the
Information Technology
Department, and others will work in
the Business Departments.
On Monday, March 15, 2004,
beginning at 2:00 p.m., Bethpage
students will make their first visit to
Northrop Grumman. Students will be
joined by Bethpage Superintendent
of Schools Harvey Hilburgh and
Bethpage High School Principal
John DeTommaso, who will meet
with NGC officials. They will receive a
brief overview of the program before
taking a tour of NGC's facilities,
including the company's Cyber
Warfare Integration Network Lab, a
large room with multiple computers
and large screens that is used to
analyze defense systems, including
"War Gaming." A demonstration will
be performed. Students will later
report to their respective
departments for an orientation on
their specific positions.
This partnership between the
Bethpage School District and
Northrop Grumman represents the
latest chapter in the district's mission
to provide meaningful school-to-work
experiences to students with
some of the most prestigious
companies in the nation. Through its
Academy of Technology, Bethpage

partnerships with Cablevision, Cisco
Systems, Dell Computer, ClassLink
Technologies, Panduit, and
Sublime Design.
