Nassau County Mounted Police
will be at the head of the parade

Bethpage Schools' Web Site
Keeping Community Informed
You would expect the Bethpage
School District, a leader in computer
technology, to have an outstanding
web site. If you visit the district's
web site at
www.bethpagecommunity.com/Scho
ols you will find a highly functional,
user-friendly site that provides a
plethora of valuable information
about all that the Bethpage School
District has to offer.
"Our web site was launched
three years ago and has grown
tremendously over time thanks to the
collaborative efforts of many
people," said Bethpage Schools
Director of Technology Terrence
Clark, who serves as the district's
web master. "Students have worked
with me over the past few years to
post and refine different aspects of
the site. Faculty members have
added their own pages to the site as
well. Parents have created PTA sites
and update them on a regular basis.
There are many other community
members who often pass along a
news article, a photo, or a tidbit of
news about our schools to share with
the world."
Students like Paul Furey
contribute by taking digital pictures
around school and creating web
pages about a school event or for an
pages, alumni news, maps and
directions, and valuable links for
students, parents, and faculty
members. An important function of
the web site is to allow secondary
students to log on to the district's
ClassLink server and access their
files and applications from their
home computer (including
applications they do not have at
home). Among the newest additions
to the site are streaming video of
students in the news, the Adult
Education section, a gallery of
student artwork, and an informative
presentation on the K-12 science
program.
Mr. Clark is working on a few
new features, including a children's
guide to Bethpage with an
interactive map, a revamped
physical education and athletics
page, and a new Special Education
Parent Teachers Association
(SEPTA) page created in
conjunction with SEPTA parents.
"By creating this site, we can
provide easy access to a wealth of
information on Special Education,"
said Bethpage Schools SEPTA
President Anna Israelton.
"Knowledge empowers parents - the
more we understand, the more we
can help our children."
