Bethpage HS Homecoming a Success
The Bethpage community came
out in full force to celebrate
Homecoming on Saturday, October
7. The day's festivities began with a
parade along Stewart Avenue,
commencing at the Bethpage Long
Island Rail Road Station and
culminating at Bethpage High
School. An array of colorful and
creative floats was on display for the
entire community to enjoy.
The best float in the parade
honor (as selected by the Bethpage
High School Student Council) went
to the Varsity kickline for their "Pot
of Golden Girls" theme. The
Homecoming Queen was Jessica
Wemicki. The Homecoming King
was Joe Laurenti. Wendy Way was
the faculty advisor for the event.
Later in the day, the Bethpage
High School Golden Eagles football
team hosted the Plainedge Red
Devils. The Golden Eagles prevailed
by a score of 35-12.
Chris De Simone led off the
scoring for Bethpage with a 15-yard
touchdown reception from
quarterback Matt Rewkowski. De
Simone followed with an
interception, which helped set up
Bethpage's second score, a 13-yard
touchdown reception by Chris Fieger
from Rewkowski. A two-point
conversion made it a 15-0 lead,
which Bethpage took into halftime.
They never looked back. Chris
Bretton followed with two second
half touchdown runs of 4 and 6
yards, respectively. Vinnie Valente
capped the scoring for Bethpage
with a 26-yard touchdown run.
Plainedge quarterback Joe
Mastrangelo had the Red Devil's
only two scores, one on a 19-yard
pass to Mike Cervihi and the other
on a 6-yard run.

Schools Harvey Hilburgh, Bethpage High School Principal Dr.
Antoinette MacLeod enjoy the homecoming festivities.
