Bethpage Welcomes New
Assistant Principal at H.S.
Bethpage Board of Education President Alexis Comodore
congratulates Keyin Healy, the new Assistant Principal at Bethpage
High School.
The Bethpage School District
welcomes Kevin Healy as the new
Assistant Principal at Bethpage High
School. Mr. Healy has extensive
experience as an assistant principal.
IN his most recent position, Mr.
Healy served as Assistant Principal
at Malverne High School where he
worked with department chairs to
develop new curriculum. He also
coordinated a district-wide task force
on student responsibility and school
discipline, developed the school's
Academic Intervention. Services plan
and mediated student conflicts,
intervening in crisis situations.
"Mr. Healy is a talented team
player and an outstanding
communicator," said Bethpage High
School Principal Dr. Antoinette
MacLeod. "These attributes enable
him to unite students and faculty,
which enhances and supports a
positive learning environment. We
are delighted to welcome him to
Bethpage High School."
Prior to working in Malverne, Mr.
Healy served as Assistant Principal
at Molloy and Marist High Schools,
where he implemented and revised
disciplinary plans, hired, trained and
evaluated new staff, and developed
master schedules, grading
procedures, and curriculum. Mr.
Healy also served as Department
Chair and Social Studies and
business teacher at Marist High
School. In addition to his
instructional responsibilities, he
served as activities director and
basketball and tennis coach.
"I feel I can be a mentor to both
students and faculty by encouraging
personal growth," said Mr. Healy. "I
am very excited to work here in
Bethpage and look forward to
helping Dr. MacLeod provide the
best learning environment possible."
Bethpage High School Advanced
Placement Test Scores Soar!
Dr. Antoinette MacLeod,
Principal of Bethpage High School is
proud to report an improvement on
the school's consistently excellent
Advanced Placement test results for
the 1999-2000 academic year.
Bethpage offers 9 Advanced
Placement Programs that allow
students to earn college credit while
in high school. For 1999-2000,
Computer Science and Psychology
were added to varied courses in
English, Social Studies, Math,
Science and Foreign Language. The
total number of AP tests taken
increased 11 % over last year, from
159 to 177. Not only did the number
of tests taken rise, but so did the
Bethpage students' scores.
The tests are scored on a scale
of 1 to 5, with students usually
needing a 3 or better to earn college
credits. 84% of all students earned a

50 Years Of Love
Rose and Ernest Finamore of Massapequa Park celebrated their
Golden wedding anniversary on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000 at exactly 50
years to the day and hour at a reception in the LaGrange Inn in West
Islip. Seventy relatives and friends attended.
Ernest was a native of Central Park and Bethpage (1932-1950)
before marrying Rose and moving to Massapequa Park. He retired from
Grumman Aircraft Corp. after 45 years of service. For the past 11 years
as a volunteer worker, Ernest enjoys restoring old aircraft at Grumman
and at the Cradle of Aviation Museum. Gardening, photography and
travel are his other interests.
Mrs. Finamore is retired from the Natural Organics Vitamin Co. and
is a homemaker. The Finamore's have two sons, a daughter and two
grandsons who have made plans for a springtime cruise for their
parents.
