Wilhelmina Vollmerhausen Awarded
For Her Dedication
Bethpage Water Chosen Tastiest
Bethpage Water District representative Bill Westerberg pours a
sample from one of Nassau County's public water suppliers for tasting
by local resident Mike Fitzgerald.
Shoppers at the Broadway Mall in Hicksville participated in the
12th Annual Best Tasting Tap Water Contest, sponsored by the Long
Island Water Conference. The event is held to educate the public about
Long Island's premium and abundant public water supply. Bethpage
Water District was chosen as the supplier with the tastiest product in
Nassau for the second year in a row.
Established in 1951, the LIWC is a professional trade organization
dedicated to providing and maintaining a safe and plentiful public
water supply on Long Island. Members include Nassau-Suffolk's public
water suppliers, consulting engineers, attorneys, water contractors
and officials from government regulatory agencies.

expanded and upgraded emergency
room, ambulatory surgery unit,
endoscopy unit, a 7-suite operating
room, recovery room, and a central
sterile department. Additionally, 36
new medical surgical beds will be
placed into service upon completion
of the construction program.
However, New Island Hospital is
not waiting for the new building
program to be completed to increase
its capabilities to serve its patients.
An interim expansion program has
begun that will bridge the current
hospital service capabilities until the
construction project is complete in
approximately one year. In early
July, New Island Hospital will put
into service, 24 beds in its current
