Mourning
The Loss Of
Gene Talbot
Gene Talbot, retired
Scoutmaster of Troop 604,
Bethpage, lost his battle with cancer
and passed away on Sunday,
February 20. Gene was involved with
Scouting for his entire life, both as a
Boy Scout in Massachusetts and for
the last 35 years as an adult leader
in Bethpage, serving both as a
Cubmaster for younger boys and as
a Scoutmaster for older boys. Five
years ago, Gene resigned as
Scoutmaster of Troop 604 to put his
boundless energy into another of his
favorite pursuits. Gene has been
teaching textile related courses at
Fashion Institute of Technology in
NYC, again molding the lives of
young people, his priority in life.
During his years as a Scout
leader in Bethpage, Gene has guided
17 Scouts to the rank of Eagle Scout,
the highest rank to be earned in Boy
Scouts. Gene will be missed by all of
the youth and adults whose lives he
has touched over the years.
Gene is survived by his wife of
41 years, Cecile, his sons, Joe and
John, his daughters-in-law Coreen
and Cindy and his four
grandchildren Nadeen, Dylan,
Chrissy and Jack.
