Love is certainly in the air as the holiday of affection, Valentine's
Day quickly approaches. And while so many of us find ourselves
scrambling to pick out just the right present or token for that
special someone, just take a moment to pause and reflect on how
grand love really is. Although this love thing can be as painful as
being hit by the Long Island Railroad, for the most; part, this powerful
emotion, is the reason why we all exist. Love takes on many
shapes and forms and while these forms of love may be different they
all create the core and center of our being.
Let's think about that new love..that exciting, almost stomach
upsetting love that makes you act a little immature and makes
you smile from ear to ear, even giggle. Yes, we've all felt it. It's the
kind of love that makes you lose your appetite:..or at least not admit
to having one...and makes you feel a bit nervous when he or she
walks into the room. New love is picking out just the right outfit
or wearing your hair just the right way when you will be together
and it almost always involves a weight loss. It s that "Igotta talk
to him or her every minute of the day" kind of feeling that makes
you almost believe that you need that person to complete your next
breath. New love is learning about each other and trying as Bard
as you can to hide any fault you might have. New love is accepting,
it's fun and it's gives you that strolling on the beach barefoot
with the wind blowing through your hair sensation all over. Yes,
it's better than York Peppermint Patties. New love often involves
an endless array of greeting cards and tokens of affection...just because.
And yes, new Love can make you act stupid really stupid but
in the name of love that's okay.
Ahhhh, and now the seasoned love, as I call it. The love be- *
tween two people who have been together for a long time. This love
is hardly ever stomach upsetting and if there is stomach upset, seasoned
love allows you to send out your significant other for some
Mylanta. Seasoned, love is completing each others sentences and ordering
each others meals at the diner. It's that "it's okay to wear
flannel pajamas to bed" security that makes you feel quite content
and warm inside. Seasoned love gives you a secure feeling deep inside
your heart and allows you to wear whatever is most comfortable
no matter how it looks. It's wearing your glasses rather than
your contacts at home and it's waking up in the morning with bed
head and morning breath and still being able to smile at each other.
Seasoned love is a bit more predictable, doesn't often come with as
many greeting cards and, yes it almost always involves weight
gain. It's the kind of love that doesn't require a whole lot of preparation
to be together yet makes you feel just not right or whole when
you are apart. It's having someone know exactly now you like your
tea and even making it. It even means sharing the television remote
control...scratch that last one...we all know that will never happen.
And yes, seasoned love can make you act stupid....really stupid...
not as often, but in the name of love that's okay , too.
So, this Valentine's Day whether you are experiencing "New
Love" or "SeasonedLove" remember how lucky you all are to experience
LOVE at all. While this incredibly powerful emotion can
take you to your knees inpain it also can provide you with perhaps
the greatest joy of all. Because we all know that indeed "Love
makes the world go round" Happy Valentine's Day to everyone.
We hope that Cupid's arrow of love finds it's way to
your heart this Valentines Day!
