HONORED FOR THEIR
SERVICE TO CHILDREN
Each year the Central Blvd. PTA
Presents an Honorary Life Award in
recognition of an individual's
outstanding service to children. It
includes a lifetime membership in
the New York State Congress of
Parents and Teachers. This year
was quite special as two
outstanding individuals were
honored with this award.
Debra Deasy joined Central
Blvd. staff in i 990. She began her
teaching career, however in the
catholic school system where she
taught for 16 years.
She did her undergraduate work
at SUNY Albany and her graduate
work at Hofstra. She is a member of
the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society.
Ms. Deasy's interests include
.reading, traveling and rooting for
the Mets! She also does work for
the poor in her community.
Her love for teaching always
comes through and she is greatly
admired by parents and students
alike. She always has a cheerful
greeting for us in the hallway.
Some comments made by
parents and students about Debra
Deasy include "she is always
available for her students needs,
my child would not be the student
she is today if it weren't for her."
A student wrote "She makes
learning fun. She is always calm
and knows how to control problems
and is always nice to us."
And last, a mom simply said -
"She is gold, fcan't tell you how
great she is - she is just gold."
The second recipient, Karen
Gregory is a PTA member. She has
had children at Central Blvd. for 12
years. She has always been an
active member of the PTA.
Karen is famous at Central Blvd.
for her hard work and devotion to
our Lip Sync Show. She puts an
enormous amount of time and love
into making this show the huge
success it is every year and we all
benefit from that.
Karen's interests include surfing
the net and sponge painting
anything or anyone that will stay still
long enough to be painted!!
Last year she took on the role
of President of the PTA
Karen and her husband Tom
can be found at any sporting event
in Bethpage watching either Kaitlyn,
Ryan, Lindsay or Kylie participating
in their many activities. She has
been a team mom for Bethpage
PAL cheerleading for at least 100
years.
Her smile is her trademark.
She is, in every way, an

AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE
FROM THE BETHPAGE
WATER DISTRICT
The Bethpage Water District
has commenced chlorination of the
District's water supply due to the
possibility that recent water main
damage or severe weather
conditions may have caused the
introduction of a low level bacteria
into the water supply. Details of the
evidence of bacteria are under
investigation. What, is known to date
is that two of the District's 40
monthly samples have tested
positive for evidence of bacteria.
The bacteria is not e coli, but a
common soil micro organism. In an
attempt to locate the source, District
personnel have continued to take
samples of all District supply
facilities as well as the two locations
where the bacteria appeared, no
sample has shown a reoccurrence
of any micro organism or bacteria.
However, in consultation with the
Nassau County Department of
Health, the Water District has

LOVE TIMES TWO
Two of our 1989 Bethpage High School graduates - twins Rose
Marie and Anne Marie Marrone - were married at a double ceremony
on October 2, 1999 at St. Martin of Tours.
Rose Marie attended Adelphi University and graduated in 1993 with
a Bachelor of Arts degree. Anne Marie also attended Adelphi
University and graduated in 1992 with a Bachelor's Degree in
Business Administration.
Rose is currently working for Merck, a major pharmaceutical
company. She works as a hospital based professional representative.
Her husband, Peter, is a pharmacist. They will be living in Smithtown,
NY.
Anne is a Vice President at Chase Bank in the Marketing
Department of their credit card division. Her husband, Rich, is a
copywriter for an international corporation. They will be living in East
Northport, NY.
The reception was held at the Watermill in Smithtown, NY. A
wonderful time was had by all the families and friends of the two
couples.
