VOL. 33 NO. 30 July 30-August 5,1999 40 CENTS
YOUR OFFICIAL HOMETOWN NEWSPAPER
Beau Sejour Historical Marker
Pauline Wilson (L) and Kay Wilson (R).
On Sunday, May 23, 1999,
members of the CENTRAL PARK
HISTORICAL SOCIETY of
BETHPAGE, gathered with friends
and relatives of the Wilson Family to
dedicate the BEAU SEJOUR
HISTORICAL MARKER placed on
the former site of this internationally
famous restaurant.
Pres. Lenny Mulqueen of CPHS
gave a brief history of the Beau
Sejour and its popularity with the
rich and famous. The Beau Sejour
was in business from 1907 to 1975.
Channel 12 News was recording
the unveiling and also, interviewed
the wives of Paul and Ed Wilson -
Mrs. Kay Wilson and Mrs. Pauline
Wilson.
At the conclusion of the
formalities, a reception for all
present was held at the Mulqueen
Residence.
It was a very enjoyable
afternoon, meeting with the family
and spending time with them and
their heirs.
The CPHS is extremely grateful
to those who contributed their time
and talents to make this occasion
memorable. We appreciate the
donation of the cake from Martin's
Bake Shop and the flowers by
Emil's Garden Shop.
The day would not have been a
success without the exceptional
help from the Albertson's, Hoban's
and Mulqueens.
George Hoban designed the
Program covers. Ann Albertson
wrote the historical synopsis of the
Beau Sejour. We had a Program
autographed by all the WILSON'S
present, which will be kept in our
archive file.
The Mulqueen's prepared the
area where the dedication took
place from mowing the lawn to
planting, as well as greeting the
guests and preparing a format so
that everything ran smoothly. They
were most gracious in opening their
home for us to have the reception.
Their preparation of refreshments
with the help from the Albertsons
was par excellence!
Although the day was rainy, it
didn't dampen the spirits of anyone
in attendance.
