tttie YOUR OFFICIAL HOMETOWN NEWSPAPER
VOL 33 NO. 25 June 25-July 1,1999 40 CENTS
You may have noticed that since the Fall, the "Welcome to
Bethpage" sign at the Powell Avenue exit of 135 has been
planted with seasonal offerings. If you've been wondering who's
responsible for this and the beautiful flowers now in bloom
there, we have the answer!
We can all thank two very civic-minded youngsters, Ariana
and Jake Rugino, who petitioned the Chamber of Commerce to
adopt the sign which had become overgrown with weeds. The
kids don't want to claim all the credit, though - Emil's Nursery
on Stewart Avenue generously donates any plants the kids ask
for! And Grandpa Jack Sanfilippo has been keeping the area
around the sign mowed. Now if we could only get people to curb
their dogs!

chorus and church choir. They are both active members of
