QOINQ FOR THE QREEN
Bethpage Hosts Qala St. Patrick's Day Parade Which Attracts Hundreds of Residents Along Parade Route
Neither rain, nor snow, gale
force winds nor freezing tempera- >
tures could keep the hearty marchers
from completing the Bethpage
St. Patrick's Parade route through
downtown Bethpage. Freezing
weather conditions did not even
keep the stalwart parade lovers
from lining the sidewalks along the
parade route.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars
Color Guard led the parade followed
by the Vietnam Veterans. The
Bethpage High School Band was
the lead band. The Nassau County
Mounted Police - always majestic
looking 0 a contingent of Nassau
County Police Officers, crossing
guards and an antique police squad
car followed in a tribute to former
Police Commissioner and Grand
Marshal - Frank Looney.
Former Grand Marshals, dignitaries,
members of the Looney family
and friends joined the line of
march behind Frank. Carol Cata-pano
and her helpers from Century
21 crisscrossed the parade route
passing out Irish flags to the brave
souls on the sidelines. An impressive
number of Bethpage firemen
followed in tribute to Frank, a lifelong
member of the Bethpage Fire
Department. Fire equipment - always
a favorite with the youngsters
five bagpipe bands, scouts, members
of the St, Martin's Youth
Group, Miss Norma's School of
Dance, representatives from the
Bethpage Water District, the Histori-
