YOUR OFFICIAL HOMETOWN NEWSPAPER
VOL. 33 NO. 45
A SPECIAL MESSAGE
This is a very special issue of the Bethpage Tribune. Once a year
We do what is called a saturation mailing which means we are
mailed to every single homeowner in the, town of Bethpage
whether they subscribe to our newspaper or not. We hope that by
doing this we will introduce those who do not read the Tribune to
a newspaper that has been in publication for over 35 years. Let
me just tell you that publishing any newspaper is not an easy job.
Large newspapers have huge staffing and departments to handle
every section. We at the Tribune are truly a Mom and Pop....
sometimes Mom and friend operation. WE do it all. Soup to nuts.
And while we by no means are perfect we truly feel that we have
been a mirror to this community for many, many years. The
Tribune doesn 't cover much national news. The Tribune doesn V
run out with a camera to take pictures of a recent car crash. We
like to print the GOOD STUFF. The kind of stuff that this
community is made of. Your daughter's birthday, grandma and
grandpa's anniversary, a charity event in the town or an issue
that directly affects our community. That's what the Tribune is
all about. We could never compete with the news in a daily paper
nor do we want to and we do not long to become a penny saver
type publication. We are what we are...an independent
newspaper that reflects the communities it represents. And while
you may not agree with an article, a comments or and editorial
(by the way a difference of opinion always makes for a more
interesting newspaper) we hope that you enjoy what is
CERTAINLY A LABOR OF LOVE. We have always tried to be
fair and always publish both sides of an issue. We always try to
get involved by directly participating in community events and
projects. WE do that because WE CARE ABOUT BETHPAGE
and its residents and we know the responsibility and importance
that each page of this publication carries with it.
So if you are reading this newspaper for the first time you are
probably asking yourself "HOW DID I EVER LIVE
WITHOUT IT!" If you are a loyal and long time friend of the
Tribune, I say a heartfelt thank you for supporting us, for getting
involved and for being the newsmakers on these pages. The
Tribune would not be here today if not for the loyalty and
commitment of so many residents and that support is appreciated
more than you will ever know.
Personally, I want to thank each and every reader for affording
me the opportunity to have a job that is so rewarding, interesting
and fun. You have allowed me to serve this community and it is a
position I cherish and love. So, happy reading everyone and
thanks again. Most importantly, I want to wish everyone a very
happy and healthy holiday and hope that the new millennium
brings good fortune, good health and love to all of you. God bless
and keep reading!!
