Bethpage Schools Safer
With New Traffic Lights
FORTY CENTS
It's Students vs. Faculty
For a Good Cause
Students and faculty at
Bethpage High School squared off
in a charity basketball game to
benefit Hoops 4 Hunger, an
organization that sponsors such
games to benefit those less
fortunate. Proceeds from the tickets
sold will be used to purchase food
for the needy. Over $200 was
raised. The event was coordinated
by the Bethpage High School
Student Civic Organization. The
students won the game by a score
of 48-45.
School and government officials, along with present and
past PTA members, gathered at the new traffic light at Charles
Campagne Elementary School.

Campagne kindergartners donned traffic signal lights they
created in class and sang the song "Red, Yellow, Green"
written by Debra Degenhardt who is seen here leading the
children and playing the guitar.

Students, parents, and staff
members of the Bethpage School
District, and motorists who travel the
roadways that front Charles
Campagne Elementary School and
Bethpage High School, can look
forward to much safer conditions, as
traffic lights have been installed at
both buildings. One traffic light is up
and running at the entrance/exit of
Charles Campagne School. The
light controls traffic along Plainview
Road, including vehicles entering
and exiting both the school and the
northbound entrance to the
Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway.
Last summer, the district
reconstructed the Charles
Campagne School driveway,
aligning the entrance of the school
with the entrance to the parkway.
