Proposed Investigation Work Plan
for
BETHPAGE COMMUNITY PARK
The New York State Department of Environmental
Conservation (DEC), the New York State
Department of Health (DOH) and the Nassau County
Department of Health (NCDOH) invite you to a
public availability session for the Bethpage
Community Park. (See box at right.)
The purpose of the availability session is to provide
you with an opportunity to view the investigation
work plan and to ask questions about it. This session
will focus on the environmental investigation of
Bethpage Community Park. Sampling of residential
areas adjacent to the park is ongoing and will be the
subject of a later outreach effort.
The meeting will be a chance for residents to ask
questions about the work that will be done to
characterize the overall surface and subsurface
environmental condition in areas of the park that are
not yet reopened. When complete, the investigation
will provide sufficient information to allow
evaluation of remedial alternatives for the
contamination found in the park.
For those who would like to review the plan before
the meeting, it will be made available in three
locations at least one week before the meeting. The
locations are: Bethpage Public Library (behind the
information desk); Town of Oyster Bay Department
of Public Works, 150 Miller Place, Syosset; and the
