THERE'S NO "BUDDY" LIKE OUR BUDDF
Buddy Mazzara Honored For Decades Of Service
At the March meeting of the
Theodore Roosevelt Republican
Club, Matt Rufrano, member of Board
of Trustees, Archie McCord Post #86,
The American Legion, presented
Buddy Mazzara with the American
Legion Gold Citizenship Medal.
Buddy, a Purple Heart recipient and a
veteran of the World War II D-Day .
invasion of Normandy, was given the
award for his "Exemplary Conduct as
a Citizen." 'The dictionary," said Matt,
"defines citizenship as one's conduct
as a citizen. Ahd Buddy's conduct
has been nothing short of
extraordinary." Buddy's fellow
Legionnaires, family, friends and
Republican officials gathered at the
American Legion Hall to honor Buddy
for his service to family, country and
community.
Terry Ryan, right, Commander of the American Legion Post #86,
congratulates his fellow World War II Veteran buddy. Buddy Mazzara proudly wears his Gold Citizenship medal awarded him
the by the members of the Bethpage American Legion.
A Personal Tribute To Buddy
Gene and Buddy Mazzara will be celebrating their 50th wedding
anniversary this May.

admires him. And everyone loves
him. The man I am describing is
none other than Bethpage's own
Buddy Mazzara, a man who truly

Buddy almost 15 years ago. He was
kind, intelligent, friendly and so very

his life in the military, his endless
community involvement ind his
loving family. Buddy has had an incredible
life full of experiences that
can account for his valued wisdom
and knowledge. And Buddy is a
wonderful listener as well. Always
willing to offer advice, concern and
understanding.
When we first met, perhaps it
, was the Tribune that was the catalyst
of our friendship. Buddy was so
interested in this newspaper. Almost
every week he'd stop by with words
of encouragement, with suggestions,
with genuine concern about a
newspaper in his town. And when I
say his town that is precisely what I
mean...his. I've learned many
things from Buddy. I've learned
dedication, commitment, honesty,
loyalty and above all I've learned a
lot about friendship and recognizing
true friends from the frauds.
Buddy has always amazed me.
His tireless energy. His zest and
love of life and the spark that
brightly shines in his eyes...still full
of ideas and vision. Now, that's the
description that fits...Buddy Mazzara
is a visionary and it is his vision
and vigor that truly have
