Melissa Buonagura
Melissa Buonagura has made
herself a part of every aspect of
Bethpage High School. She is a
young woman who strives for success
in all areas of life and works
hard to achieve her best.
She has excelled academically,
earning a 99.6 grade point average,
a 1350 on her SATs and also holds
leadership positions in many activities.
She is president of Student
Council, Editor-in-Chief of the Eagle's
Cry school newspaper and officer
of the Drama Club. This extensive
involvement, combined with her
academics, earned her membership
in the National Honor Society. As
Student Council president, Melissa
has organized events such as
Homecoming, the Food Drive, and
the Toy and Clothing Drive. She will
also be organizing a winter dance,
Olympic Night and the Senior Citizen
Prom.
Melissa has been Officer of the
Drama Club for the past two years
and has had lead roles, including
Darlene Love in Leader of the Pack
and Lola in Damn Yankees, which
happened to be her favorite. With
her active participation in the theater
department as well as the Select
Chorus, she was selected for membership
in the Tri-m Music Honor
Society.
Melissa has also managed to
be a member of the Varsity Golden
Girls Kickline for three years and an
active member of Student Civic.
Alicia Arnott
Through Student Civic, she has volunteered
her time for the Marty Lyons
Foundation, Ronald McDonald
House, and the Hope House Charities.
She is also a student representative
on the Compact for Learning
Site^Based Committee and our high
school's Nutrition Committee.
After a summer internship at
Paine Webber in Manhattan,
Melissa has elected to pursue a career
in the business world. Her eye
is focused on attending either
Cornell, NYU or Fordham University,
where she hopes to major in finance.
As she looks back on her
years at Bethpage High School, she
appreciates the advantages of
having grown up in a small school
where she has had the opportunity
to become involved with so many
different activities.
Although some consider four
Advanced Placement classes a full-time
job, Alicia Arnott still manages
to find time to participate in sports,
perform volunteer activities and
work part-time. Her persistence and
dedication to excellence have allowed
her to achieve a grade point
average of 104 and SAT score of
1450. Alicia was selected as a
Commended Student in the 1996-
97 National Merit Scholarship Competition.
Besides her commitment to
-•academic excellence, Alicia is a talented
athlete. She participates in

Mrs. James' Home and Career Skills Classes hand stitched Sesame Street
stuffed characters for the children at Schneider Children's Hospital. All the students
worked hard on their projects and were happy to give them to the children
for the holidays.
After the Sesame characters were sewn, they were put onto two Big Bird
Stockings that were made by Lauren Amorini.
Mrs. James delivered them to the hospital in time for the children's holiday
