On Saturday June 15th, the U-11 Boy's Long Island Junior Bethpage
Bombers played the Stonybrook Breakers in the final round of the
Waldbaums Youth Soccer Challenge (formerly the Chase Cup) and won
by a score of 3-2. Their determination and skill brought them out on top
of this single elimination tournament accomplishing something that
has not been done in Bethpage Soccer in many years. In the two years
that this team has been together they have come in 1st place in two
tournaments, 2nd place in one tournament, been awarded the Sportsmanship
Award twice, taken the Division Championship one season
and placed in the other three seasons and now have become the
Waldbaums Challenge Champions. We would like to congratulate the
team and wish them luck in the future.

Pictured here is Mrs. Cordiner's class along with Mrs. Cordiner and
Senator Marcellino. The children are proudly wearing their medals and
holding their shirts and certificates. Missing from the photo is Andrew
Pfeifer who unfortunately was absent on that day.
Mrs. Cordiner's first grade class in Central Boulevard School won 2nd
Place in the statewide contest, Ima-Green-Nation. On Monday, June
17, 1996 Senator Marcellino and an assistant visited C.B.S. to present
each of the 23 students with a medal, a recycling shirt and a certificate.
The purpose of the contest is to promote environmental protection
awareness. The hope is that if the children become involved with
reducing, reusing and recycling, they will encourage their parents to
save the world too. If children grow up knowing about the importance
of protecting our environment, we will definitely have a better future.
The children were very excited to be honored at a special assembly by
Senator Marcellino. Many proud parents were present to witness the
presentation, and a photo session was held at the conclusion which
added to the importance of the moment.
