Nassau County "B" Lacrosse Champions.
The Bethpage High Schoet
lacrosse program started playing in
1961. This past Friday night at
Hofstra Stadium, for the 1st time in
their 35 years of existance, they
won the Nassau County "B"
Championshiop.
Our All-American midfielder, A.J.
Haugen, started our scoring with a
quick goal on our first offensive try
and we thought we might have an
easy run to the championship.
However, our opponents,
Manhasset, last year's New York
State "B" Champions, had no
intention of lying down for us. The
game was tied 3 to 3 at the half
way mark and Manhasset seemed
to have the momentum.
At the end of 3 periods
Manhasset was leading 6 to 5 and
we were starting to worry. Four
minutes into the last period
Manhasset scored again making it
7 to 5 and we really started to worry,
Chris Cercy, our faceoff man did an
excellent job on the next faceoff
and got the ball to A.J. who
streaked down the left side and
scored 15 seconds after
Manhassets last goal. On the next
faceoff, our outstanding defensive
player for the game, David Kelly,
scooped up the ball, went down
down the right side and scored the

members of the Bethpage H.S. rigid qualifying criteria in order to
