VOL. 28 NO. 42 OCTOBER 27-NOVEMBER 2, 1995 40 CENTS
WINNING
A.J. Haugen opens the scoring against Manhasset with this 10
rard 7 minutes into the first quarter.
Bethpage assistant coach Irwin Dill (in shirt and tie), urges the
defense on as they tackle a Manhasset running back for a loss.
The Longest active winning
streak in New York State high
school football is still alive as
Bethpage beat Manhasset 21 to 8.
The streak is now 27 straight.
Rain with thunder and lighting
postponed Saturday's football
game until Sunday. Sunday's
weather was gorgeous. Thunder
and lightning were still present
though on the high school football
field. Capt. A.J. Haugen provided
the lightning with his flashy moves
and quick feet. The thunder was
heard on each play as the hitting
from both sides was intense. It was
also caused by the cheering crowd
as. Chris Cercy scored 2 touchdowns.
One on a short run in the
3rd quarter. His second, a 52 yard
run on the first play after an hour
long delay for an injury to a
Manhasset player (he is coming along
fine) who was air lifted off the field.
The defense did an outstanding
job of holding Manhasset scoreless
into the 4th quarter. Congratulations
to all on another fine job.
With 3 more games to go they are
in good shape for the playoffs.
