The Nassau Council of
Chambers of Commerce held their
Annual Small Business Person of
the Year Breakfast on Friday May
5 at the Coral House in Baldwin.
This year Bethpage is pleased to
announce that Edward P. Mangano,
treasurer of the Bethpage
Chamber of Commerce was
selected from Bethpage to receive
this honor.
Edward Mangano is an
extremely active member of the
community. He is the President of
the Bethpage Rotary Club, a Town
of Oyster Bay appointed member
of the Youth Advisory Board, a

Claire Donohue Receives Award

The library media specialist at Bethpage High School, Donohue is
finishing a two-year term as chairperson of the Nassau School Library
System Council.
Bethpage High School's Claire
Donohue was surprised with a
special award of recognition at the
annual conference of the Nassau
School Library System (NSLS),
held Thursday, April 14 at the
Nassau BOCES Salisbury Center.
NSLS Administrator, Carol
Kroll, presented a Japanese Maple
sapling to Donohue, who has been
chairman of the NSLS Council for
the past two years. "She has set
an example of a truly dedicated
teacher, willing to share with all
learners—kids, teachers and other
librarians," said NSLS's Kroll in
making the award. "We give her
this sapling in the hope that its
growth will be as,great as ours has
been in her care."
In accepting the award,
Donohue recalled this year's
library week saying—'Mibraries
change lives"—and said "NSLS has
changed librarians' lives in big
ways."
