"Facts" Only Campaign
Planned By ToB Republicans Bicentennial Progress Report
PLANNING A "FACTS ONLY" CAMPAIGN: Oyster Bay Town
Supervisor John W. Burke, center, and State Senator Ralph J.
Marino, Oyster Bay Republican Chairman, listen as Dr. Charles
Artale of Plainview offers his ideas on running the Republican campaign
in the Town. Dr. Artale has recently accepted the post of
chairman for the GOP campaign.
Senator Ralph J. Marino,
Chairman of the Oyster Bay
Town Republican Committee,
has announced the appointment
of Charles R. Artale of Plainview
as chairman of the Town Committee's
election campaign.
"In choosing a chairman, we
looked for the type of individual
who has demonstrated through
his actions that he is actively concerned
with his community,"
Senator Marino said. "In Dr.
Artale we have such a person. He
is not someone who points to the
other guy when a community
needs action."
A former president of the
Kiwanis, Dr. Artale serves as
chairman of the Plainview Salvation
Army Advisory Committee
and is the past president of the
Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is
also a member of the American
Legion and the Holy Name
Society.
The 49-year old chiropractor
presently serves as the First
Vice-Chairman of the Plainview-
Old Bethpage Republican Committee.
He has been a member of
the local Republican club since
1958, and served as its president
in 1971, while at the same time
serving as Co-Leader of the
Executive Committee.

Fishman Into ToB Campaign
Carole Fishman is a "different"
kind of candidate, and
Democrats are hepeful that the
"differences" will be enough to
elect her to the Oyster Bay Town
Board this November.
This is her first try at running
for Town office, yet she is a
storehouse of knowledge as to
what's going on throughout the
Town. A former President of the
Greater Plainview Community
Association, Mrs. Fishman has
lent her organizational skills and
knowledge to civic groups
throughout the Town - from
Syosset and Bethpage to
Massapequa.
She is not an attorney by
profession, yet her grasp of Town
municipal law generally, and
zoning law specifically, are such
as to make her the equal of many
members of the local bar in those
fields.
Mrs. Fishman has been a
constant participant in all levels
of Town affairs for more than six
years, and is best known for her
leadership in community battles
against the Northville gasoline
tank farm and the Plainview
garbage dump. She was also
instrumental in obtaining the
enactment of the much needed

BETHPAGE ROTARY CLUB-President
Marty Meyers announced
5,000 Norway Spruce
trees were planted in Bethpage
as a living celebration of the Bicentennial.
Congrats for a job
well done to the Rotary and to
Leo Schottland who expedited
that big job. Leo wished to
thank the Boy Scouts and Girl
Scouts who assisted him. Harriet,
his wife also deserves a "thank
you" — all those trees (little
ones, thank the Lord.) in her
garage.
Thank you to Sal Mosca, Beth-pager

his interest and help to our
committee. Sal appeared in
Colonial Garb (thanks to the
ingenuity of his wife, Marge) in
our Memorable "Ride of Paul
Revere.
Kudos to Miss Dorothy McGee

American Revolution Bicentennial

McGee has offered us Town

available) in our many projects.
We also welcomed her informative
talk at our last
meeting and look forward to
working with this very charming
and knowledgable lady.
BETHPAGE LIBRARY
.. We cannot begin to give enough
praise to the BETHPAGE
LIBKAHY under the enlightened
leadership of David Pinkwas.
The staff working with Mr. Pink
was is absolutely wonderful.
They have really jumped into the
Bicentennial with enthusiasm
and true patriotism. We cannot
begin to tell you all that has been
planned for the Bethpage
Community through your local
library.
There will be shows, bus trips,
lectures, films, exhibits, etc. The
BETHPAGE TRIBUNE will
carry a column of books
reviewed for the Bicentennial
observance.
As the year progresses, you
will be hearing more and more
from your library. Again, kudos
to your Library Director for his
vision, creativity and administrative
know-how.
