able to fix our opening day for
June 15 as scheduled."
Dating back to 1906, Eastern
Savings Bank will, with Plain-view,
have eight branches in the
Bronx, Westchester and Long
Ialsnd. The Old Country Road
location will have a total of 7,200
square feet including a lower
level with storage and conference
rooms.
Mr. Coalter said that one of the
unusual features of the bank is a
Community Room on the lower
level for use by local civic,
fraternal and community groups.
"This room", he said, "will have
its own separate entrance and be
available for use upon application
to the Bank. "This is one
way we feel Eastern Savings
Bank elan perform a needed
service arid show that we intend
to become a vital part of this
community."

Season opens at 3 museums

has begun its 1974 Museum House
"The" Thompson House, North
Country Road, Setauket, and the
Sherwood-Jayne House, Old Post
Road, East Setauket, will open
May 3. Rock Hall, in Lawrence,
administered by the Society in
cooperation with the Town ot
Hempstead, opened April 1.
The Thompson House, ca. 1700,
sheltered members of the family
for almost two hundred years,
including Benjamin F. Thompson
famed LongTsland historian
who was born there. A "salt box
house, with huge fireplaces and
early paneling, this building is
presented as a period house,mjh
no furnishings later than mid 18th
century. The charming herb
garden appears as it might have
two hundred years ago.
The Sherwood-Jayne House,
c a 1730 and 1790, by way of
contrast, is shown as the home of
a contemporary person who
foved and collected antiques.
The Thompson House and
Sherwood-Jayne House are open
Friday, Saturday and Sunday
from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
B^ck Hall is a noted example of
Georgian architecture and s
furnished in the style of the late
18th and early 19th centuries.
Open April 1st through
November, the house may be
visited daily, except Tuesday,
from 10 a. m. until 5:00 p.m.
Sundays from noon until 5.uu
p.m. Admission is free.
Bethpige backs UFLI
Harry M. Rogers, Vice
President, National Bank of
North America, notes that
Bethpage had attained 84 percent
of its goal for the 1973 United
Fund of Long Island campaign.
Rogers, 1973 Community Division
Chairman for the United Fund,
